Review // The Power of Two: Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin C Drop + Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask

I had really terrible skin last year because of a bad breakout I had due to college stress and anxiety. So when I took time to treat my acne, I was able to balance my skin and get rid of excess oils. Though this resulted in healthier and improved skin, one thing I’ve struggled is actually healing my acne scars. I was completely at a loss on what to do to. I had slapped on all kinds of serums, sheet masks, and moisturizers to my face, and though they’ve helped a lot in keeping my face hydrated, smooth, and silky, I still had ugly dark spots that were caused by my acne. With that, I decided to switch focus and have been more on the lookout for skincare with brightening benefits — not just to fix that problem but also because a more brightened skin is the key to looking fresh and young!

Not gonna lie, brightening has always been a claim that I find difficult to test. Mostly because you rarely feel or see any instant brightening effects, and they tend to reflect on your skin only after constant use throughout a long duration of time. With that, it’s always been a struggle for me to check if a product is working well because I just don’t know when I’m supposed to start seeing the effects. So I guess it really takes patience if you want that healthy and glowy looking skin!

I’ve recently tried out Dear, Klairs Freshly Juice duo — their Vitamin C Serum and Vitamin E Mask. I seriously believe the best way to use them is by using both TOGETHER because they’re able to complement one another perfectly.

Volume : 35ml
All Skin Types / Sensitive Skin
Made in Korea

Where to Buy: Dear, Klairs can be bought in online retail shops such as Althea and Beauty MNL.

Price: P1010

Packaging: This one comes inside a small pretty clear bottle with a dropper. For some reason, I always feel as if products instantly look more premium in packaging types with a dropper! Lol. The design concept is very clean and professional and uses shiny holographic text — really associates to the idea of a shinier face!
Texture: The texture of this is a bit oily, but it’s light enough that it absorbs into the skin very quickly, and gives a matte finish. Most Vitamin C products actually give a slight sting and burns your face, but the heat you feel with this one is sooo mild and gentle and tolerable, that my skin is always happy and never complains whenever I use this.

Scent: It smells mildly citrus-y (well, of course haha) but it’s not irritating or too strong, which I like.

Application: At night, I use this after essence, but before moisturizer and eye cream. I put about 2-3 drops directly to my face, and use my hand to gently spread it all over. In the mornings, I mix like 1-2 drops to my moisturizer but I never use it on its own, because it’s not safe to put Vitamin C on your face and go out in the sun. It could actually burn your skin. Application has been smooth so far. The bottle also lasts for like 2-3 months, and fair warning — the product actually changes color (from clear to brown) with constant exposure to light and oxygen, so it’s best to finish up the bottle within that duration.
Value for Money: Pricing is pretty decent. It’s a bit more expensive compared to other Vitamin C products from other Korean brands, but given its claims and benefits and how it’s super safe for sensitive skin (which is what I need since I have sensitive skintype) I’m all good!
Verdict: In terms of effectiveness, I think this product takes a bit of time before it actually brightens your skin. I’ve used this constantly for about a month already, and it was only in the 3rd week where I saw some improvements and brightening in areas of my face with acne scars and sun spots. I still haven’t actually seen an overall brightening effect on my whole face, but I’m willing to wait it out.

I actually like this product more than other Vitamin C serums, mainly because of how gentle it is. I’m always scared of breaking out or drying out my skin with other serums, so I’m very happy. Although effects are slow, I’m thankful for the gentleness of the product which is attributed by the fact that it only contains 5% concentration of Vitamin C — so this is a great entry level for starters. I can see why they market it as good for all skintypes, because it’s true! 🙂

I love this product and it’s something I’m really excited to repurchase once I finish my bottle.

Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin E Mask

Product Details:

A multifunctional product that can be used as a mask, sleeping pack or daily moisturizer. Fortified with the antioxidant power of vitamin E to brighten, improve wrinkles, and prevent signs of aging.

Use it during the day to protect the skin from UV damages and use it at night for wrinkle improvement and skin regeneration.

A Unique Texture

With a pudding-like texture, the cream transform into a rich essence that helps the product tightly adhere onto the skin, which maintains and lock-in the moisture for at least 8 hours. This memory foam consistency will give an overnight miracle of brighter, firmer, and more hydrated skin.

Brand: Klairs
Volume: 90ml
All Skin Types
Made in Korea

Where to Buy: Dear, Klairs can be bought in online retail shops such as Althea and Beauty MNL.

Price: P1500

Packaging: Comes inside a pretty plastic jar, and design concept is in line with the Vitamin C serum. It comes with a spatula that can help you scoop the product easily.

Texture: I have never come across a mask with this kind of texture. They’re not lying that this mask comes with a unique texture that’s actually super hard to describe. It’s like pudding, or almond (?) and it has a memory foam consistency, meaning it is able to resettle into its original shape even after scooping out some product. It’s creamier than a gel for sure, but it’s not as heavy as an actual cream product. When applied on the face, it’s important to squish the product and spread it well, or else it remains solid and can fall off your face (trust me, this has happened to me a lot huhu). This leaves a shiny finish so it gives you the perfect time to take post skincare selfies! Hahaha

Scent: I wasn’t too sure about this one’s smell. Offhand, it gives off a mild floral scent to me, but somehow it also smells a bit herbal? I don’t really mind since the scent didn’t leave much impact on me. As long as it’s not too strong!

Application: Dear, Klairs markets this as a multipurpose product that can be used both as a moisturizer or a sleeping pack/mask. In my experience, I feel like the product is too thin to be an overnight mask and doesn’t give that nice thick film to lock the moisture on your face. It absorbs into my face very quickly though, which is why I like it as a moisturizer. One more thing I found out is that it actually goes well when mixed with the Vitamin C Serum!
Value for Money: Not too expensive, priced within the same range as other overnight masks. I’m fine with its price because it’s supposed to be multipurpose anyway.
Verdict: This product made my skin feel more plumped and fresh the next morning. Continuous use for about 3 weeks helped me achieve a soft glow, but it still depended on my skin’s mood. It wasn’t a consistent effect I saw everyday, but there were days when I felt my skin brighten and look dewy.

There’s a reason why Klairs markets these 2 products together as a duo. Vitamin C and E are both antioxidants that help prevent wrinkles and aging. Vitamin C on its own is good at improving your skin’s collagen production and maintaining healthy looking skin. Vitamin E, on the other hand, helps protect the skin from external factors such as pollution and sun exposure. Vitamin E actually helps stabilize Vitamin C, and they both increase the effectiveness of each other.

I think it’s perfect that both products are conceptualized to complement each other. The secondary ingredients are also fitting as well – centella asiatic extract and niacinamide both help in skin brightening too, so these ingredients helped increase these products’ credibility. Even though both products work well on their own, I find that using both products together actually increase the effectiveness and help my skin brighten over time, resulting in fresh, hydrated and elastic skin! 🙂

  1. Hello there! Great post! Do you think that the Vitamin E mask can be used in the morning as a moisturizer? Do you think it will go well with makeup? Just wondering because I’m looking for a new morning moisturizer and I’ve used my Klairs Freshly Juiced Drop as a morning serum.

    1. Hi there! Thanks for dropping by! 🙂 well it depends mainly on your skintype. I think it would do well as a daytime moisturizer for dry and parched skin, and it probably wouldn’t be a problem with makeup too, because it absorbs into the face pretty fast. If you’re more oily though and live in a tropical country (like me hehe) I think this would be too sticky and heavy on the face. Hope this helps!

      1. I just watched Wishtrend’s YouTube video that you could actually use it as a daytime moisturizer especially if you’re into glass skin look. Great insight by the way!

  2. Hi! How long does a bottle of Klairs Vit C serum and a tub of Vit E mask last? Thank you. I’ve been wanting to try this product. 🙏
