Where to Buy: You can buy Milani products online.

Story: I feel like when it comes to highlights, most people don’t pay much mind to what exactly they’re using as long as it gives them a visible glow. I’ve been really invested in finding a more golden highlight since all my other highlights have been leaning towards more silvery-moonlight-type shimmers. Milani is a brand I’ve heard about for a while now, so I decided to grab their highlight on a whim. Gotta say the wavy, ray-like cut partnered with the shimmer of the product is what attracted me the most.

Ingredients: MICA (CI 77019), MAGNESIUM STEARATE, OCTYLDODECYL STEAROYL STEARATE, PHENYL TRIMETHICONE, ALUMINUM STARCH OCTENYLSUCCINATE, CYCLOPENTASILOXANE, SILICA, TALC, DIMETHICONE, PHENOXYETHANOL, TOCOPHERYL ACETATE, DEHYDROACETIC ACID. +/- MAY CONTAIN: TITANIUM DIOXIDE (CI 77891), IRON OXIDES (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), RED 7 LAKE (CI 15850)

Packaging:

Considering the fact that this product is fairly cheap in comparison to other highlights, I have to say that I think the packaging’s pretty good. The golden bottom has the tendency to reflect light back in rainbows, but it also smudges with your fingerprint easily and is made of plastic which can make it feel a little cheap. The product isn’t very heavy, but it has a nice weight to it, and the shape and compactness of the closing does make the product look fancier. The golden ‘MILANI’ printed on the clear top casts a shadow on the highlight when closed which I think is particularly satisfying.

Texture:

It looks like the product would be powdery and all that, but actually, it applies really smoothly and has nearly no fall-out. I wouldn’t call it creamy, really, more of a very compact powder with maybe a little something formulated within to make it even smoother.

Scent: No matter how many times I smell this product, the scent just won’t grow on me. There’s no scent unless you stick your nose really close to the product and breathe in directly, which no one will ever have to do, but when I did (out of curiosity and this blogpost 😂), the scent was so overwhelming that actually had to breathe out to clear my head. It has a sort of plastic-like scent combined with the usual scent of make up. I would definitely not recommend smelling it the way I did. HAHAHA! But no worries—you won’t even smell anything when you use the product normally.

Application:

Grab a brush, or use your fingers if that’s your thing, and place it on the places where you want to glow and pop. There’s a helpful diagram at the back if you don’t know where to start. It’s a striking daytime highlight or a subtle nighttime one, and I’m all for that. It looks especially great under the sun and paired with a tan for the pretty golden glow. There are other, less sunny shades too, if that’s what you want. 🙂

Value for Money:

I honestly seriously like this highlight. I feel like it has such a flattering glow to it and will suit so many skin tones. It’s also really hot here in the Philippines, and 7 times out of 10 the sun will be shining way too bright, and that pairs with the highlight so well. It doesn’t wash you out like some silvery highlights do, and it’s not too much for everyday looks. It’s been my go-to highlight for so long now too, and the product barely has any evidences of being used because a little goes such a long way. I think for a price of approximately PHP 450.00, this product is well worth it.

Verdict: This product gets a yes from me! The only thing I don’t like about this product that actually matters is the fact that it seems to emphasize texture.

I don’t think it’s bad enough to be a deal-breaker, but if you don’t like highlights that don’t smooth over the skin, keep in mind that this does emphasize the texture of your skin. It looks so pretty on top of my cheekbones though, how can I complain? ❤
